LEARN MORE ABOUT BIOANALYTICAL SERVICES: |
Solutions for Small Batches to Large Economies of Scale In a recent case study, a small biotech had purchased a biologic but did not have the in-house expertise to manage the compound. They needed to develop and run the typical cell-based neutralization assay, but were concerned about the potential time and cost. Therefore, the biotech sought out a CRO that could quickly understand the method history and characteristics of the compound. Covance was selected as their bioanalytical partner and quickly developed an in-vitro ligand-binding assay to determine neutralizing antibodies. Using automation efficiencies and an optimized assay program, Covance gave the client an 8-fold increase in sample analysis throughput, a 65% reduction in overall program time, resulting in a 40% cost savings. As word-of-mouth referrals continued, Covance had to respond to growing demand by creating a new immunochemistry lab in Indianapolis. This state-of-the-art large molecule facility is co-located with an existing small-molecule bioanalytical lab and central laboratory services. This expertise covers proteins, peptides, antibodies, gene therapy products, antibody-drug conjugates, biomarkers and vaccines to create the total package of bioanalytical solutions. Known as the analytical hub, the immunochemistry lab allows your client the benefit from the synergies and knowledge sharing among experts between the small- and large-molecule teams. In addition, cross-service partnering combined with automated instrumentation result in economies of scale, bringing new levels of efficiencies to your client.
